Eight years ago today Jason Mizell, better known as Jam Master Jay, was shot and killed in Jamaica, Queens.
One-Third of the lengendary "Run-DMC", Jam Master Jay's stage presence and talents excelled during live shows. Essentially many considered Jam Master Jay to be the band.
He helped Onyx and 50 Cent establish careers and has been inducted in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2009 as part of Run-DMC.
Jam Master Jay established the "Scratch DJ Academy" to provide opportunities to learn the craft.
His influence reached outside of Hip-Hop with such acts as Rage Against The Machine, Audio Slave, Aerosmith and Linkin Park.
This man was and still is a true inspiration and pinoneer of Hip-Hop.
